Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 Success

Glasgow proudly hosted the Commonwealth Games 2026 this summer, delivering an unforgettable 11-day celebration of sport, community and culture.

Stepping in at short notice, the city successfully welcomed around 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories, earning widespread praise for its exceptional delivery of this major international event in only 2 years. 

Team Scotland delivered an outstanding performance throughout the competition, finishing with more than 25 medals. Highlights included Reuben Ward's historic gold medal in the Men's All-Around competition, making him the first Scottish gymnast to achieve this at a Commonwealth Games. On the track, Ben Sandilands secured gold and Steven Bryce claimed bronze in the Men's T20 1500m, while Angharad Evans, Duncan Scott and Faye Rogers were among those celebrating gold-medal success at Tollcross, to name a few. 

The Games brought a fantastic atmosphere to the city, with enthusiastic crowds helping to inspire athletes and create memorable moments across every venue. From the amazing Opening Ceremony, attended by King Charles and Queen Camilla, to the striking Commonwealth Games artwork displayed on the iconic Finnieston Crane, Glasgow showcased itself once again as a welcoming and vibrant host city. 

Away from the sporting action, Team Scotland House at The Corinthian Club became a hub for supporters throughout the Games. Families and visitors enjoyed appearances from Clyde, interactive exhibits, live screenings, and the Team Scotland Pop-up Shop, while events exploring the History of Team Scotland celebrated Scotland's rich sporting heritage. 

The city's hospitality sector also played its part through the #Glasgow2026 All In campaign. The standout initiative saw reusable drink stencils made from repurposed ocean plastic used across participating venues, demonstrating how Glasgow 2026 combined innovation and sustainability alongside world-class sport.

As the Games have come to an end, Glasgow can look back on a successful event that delivered sporting excellence, packed venues and a lasting legacy for the city and Scotland.
