Scottish automation firm FD Intelligence has opened a new office in Glasgow as part of its ambitious plan to triple revenue in each of the next two years.

Founded in Edinburgh in 2020, the company specialises in robotic process automation (RPA) and artificial intelligence (AI) to handle repetitive tasks that would normally be done by a human.

The company currently has 25 employees across the UK, with 12 in Glasgow and the remaining 13 between Manchester and London.

FD Intelligence has already delivered automation solutions to manage tax, payroll, bank and supplier statement reconciliation, while automation has allowed hotel clients to handle email reservations, rate-loading onto third party websites, and employee on-boarding and off-boarding - freeing up staff for more customer-facing activities.

Founder and chief executive Andrew Guy said: “This technology has the capacity to resolve many of the current issues with staff shortages by freeing people from repetitive tasks to get involved in more customer-focused activities.

“I believe that our software helps to both retain existing staff and attract new employees who will no longer be assigned the more mundane tasks, as these will be completed by our highly-trained robots, allowing staff to be given work which is more engaging and challenging in the long term.”

The company is making this move on the heels of a recent partnership with UiPath, which developed projects in accountancy, finance, and hospitality. FD Intelligence has also implemented its solutions in tax management, payroll processing, as well as banking and supplier reconciliation.

Guy predicted that 90% of the top 100 firms in the UK accountancy market will be using this software in the next two years. He also said that RPA and AI will become more widely adopted in most sectors over the next five years.
