BNP Paribas, Europe’s leading financial institution, has officially opened its brand new offices at 177 Bothwell Street in central Glasgow. Employees were joined by special guest, Ivan McKee, Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise in the Scottish Government, at the official opening ceremony on 5 October.

BNP Paribas’s move to one of Glasgow’s most prestigious office blocks highlights the bank’s commitment to Scotland, where it has been present for more than 40 years.

A highly sustainable office development, 177 Bothwell Street’s energy is supplied by Blantyre Muir Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire. It is targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Standard, the world’s leading assessment method for buildings, and has an A-rated Energy Performance Certificate.

These first-class offices, which cover 20,600 sq feet of space, will accommodate the bank’s 300 Glasgow employees, who work for the bank’s Securities Services business, providing specialist services to financial institutions around the world, as well as its Real Estate division, a leading property consultancy.

Mark Daisley, Head of Client Delivery, Securities Services, at BNP Paribas, said:

“177 Bothwell Street provides a first-class working environment for our employees and a great meeting space for clients. Crucially for us, it is a highly sustainable building, which aligns us with the bank’s environmental commitments. This move highlights our commitment to Scotland, where we are currently recruiting banking, fund industry and real estate specialists.”

Gary Cameron, Head of Scotland at BNP Paribas Real Estate, said:

“The new office marks the first of its kind across the UK where our real estate business will share a collaborative office space with our banking colleagues. This enhances our ability to take our clients on a journey, where appropriate, from funding to delivery, thus solidifying our standing in the industry.”
