The Learning Quarter brings together Glasgow’s major educational and research institutions, creating a district shaped by knowledge, healthcare, innovation and historic architecture. Anchored by the city’s university, college and hospital facilities, this area plays a vital role in attracting students, professionals and visitors from across the region and beyond.
Regeneration aims in the Learning Quarter focus on improving movement between campuses, enhancing public spaces and strengthening the district’s identity as a place of learning and innovation. Better active travel connections, improved landscaping and clearer wayfinding are intended to create a more cohesive and accessible environment for all who use the area.
A major catalyst is the redevelopment of Met Tower, the landmark former college building acquired by Vita Group in August 2025. The project will introduce the Union co-living concept to Scotland, transforming the long vacant tower into modern accommodation supported by shared amenities, including co-working, wellness facilities and social spaces. The scheme will establish a new residential community at the district’s core, supporting Glasgow’s ambition to expand city centre living and repurpose under-used buildings.
